- The SAP Host Agent is a tool that you can use for monitoring and controlling SAP and non-SAP instances, operating systems, and databases. It is installed automatically during the installation of new SAP instances with SAP kernel 7.20 or higher.
- Login as root as <sidadm> doesn’t have permission for executing SAP HOST AGENT commands.
- cd /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe {navigate to directory where sap host agent is installed}
- execute command ./saphostexec –USE BELOW MENTIONED OPTION
USE OPTION for doing action which you want as for -start use ./saphostexec -start
-install : Install the agent
-upgrade [-archive SAPHOSTAGENT_ARCHIVE] : Upgrade the agent [from SAPHOSTAGENT archive]
-uninstall : Uninstall the agent
-restart : Start or Restart the agent
-stop : Stop a running agent
-status : return the status of the agent
-version : return a detailed version information

Symptom
The Diagnostics Agent is not listed in Managed System Configuration, tab 'Assign Diagnostics Agent' and an error may appear if the 'Check All Host Agents' is pressed:
'Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.'
C: Program Files SAP hostctrl exe saphostexec.exe -uninstall is the full command line if you want to remove SAP Host Agent. SAP Host Agent's main file takes about 3.70 MB (3880448 bytes) and its name is saphostctrl.exe. SAP Host Agent is comprised of the following executables which take 41.60 MB (43623424 bytes) on disk: ldappasswd.exe (225.00 KB).
