DRAGONFORCE lyrics - 82 song lyrics from 7 albums, including 'Reaching Into Infinity' (2017). Like most DragonForce lyrics, these are straightforward, yet with a much deeper meaning. The basic idea is to suggest living on through a great battle. 'So far away' is a line that suggests that the battle takes place in a fictional world. DragonForce On a cold winter of morning, In the time before the light. In flames of death's eternal reign, We ride towards the fight. Through the Fire and Flames Lyrics

On a cold winter morning, in the time before the light
In flames of death's eternal reign we ride towards the fight
And the darkness is falling down and the times are tough all right
The sound of evil laughter falls around the world...

Well, I did a paper on this song, in which we were supposed to tell a story with the lyrics (more or less...) and I described it as a battle between the gods of heaven and the demons of hell; each longing for/ envious about the other’s placement. (sky, earth.) where in the end. They realize it’s pointless and return to their rightful realms. When I looked closeley at the lyrics, it seemed as if it’s switching points of view, for example: (D= Demons, G= Gods) (also, I always pictured the gods as winged bird-like men/women, and the demons devilish creatures)
    (D) On a cold winter morning in a time before the light
In flames of death's eternal reign we ride towards the fight
When the darkness has fallen down and the times are tough alright
The sound of evil laughter falls around the world tonight
Fighting hard fighting on for the steel through the wastelands evermore
The scattered souls will feel the hell bodies wasted on the shores
    (G) On the blackest plains in hell's domain we watch them as they go
In fire and pain now once again we know
So now we fly ever free, we're free before the thunderstorm
On towards the wilderness our quest carries on
Far beyond the sundown, far beyond the moonlight
Deep inside our hearts and all our souls
    (D) So far away we wait for the day
For the light source so wasted and gone
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days
Through the fire and the flames we carry on
(G)As the red day is dawning and the lightning cracks the sky
They'll raise their hands to the heavens above with resentment to their eyes
(D)Running back through the mid morning light there's a burning in my heart
(G)We're banished from a time in a fallen land to a life beyond the stars
(D)In your darkest dreams see to believe our destiny this time
And endlessly we'll all be free tonight
(G)And on the wings of a dream so far beyond reality
All alone in desperation now the time has come
(D)Lost inside you'll never find, lost within my own mind
Day after day this misery must go on
(G)So far away we wait for the day
For the light source so wasted and gone
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days
Through the fire and the flames we carry on
(D)Now here we stand with their blood on our hands
(G)We fought so hard now can we understand
(D)I'll break the seal of this curse if I possibly can
    (G)For freedom of every man
(D&G)So far away we wait for the day
For the light source so wasted and gone
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days
Through the fire and the flames we carry on

In University I studied an epic peom called Paradise Lost by John Milton. It's about Satan and the other fallen angels battling back against god, after he has banished them from heaven. I think this song is, although not directly, connected to this book or the content within it.
I know this may seem silly, but after studying Paradise Lost in great detail for my degree in English Literature, the connection cannot be purely coincidental.
Please Please reply to my comment. I think it would be amazing if somebody else thought the same. danydicko1234@hotmail.com

I love this song after recently remembering about it from guitar hero, I have listened to their other stuff too and I like it. Anyway, my interpretation of this song is on two levels. On the literal level, I disagree with those that say it is religious in any way. If you pay attention to the feel of the song, it seems like it is a hard, losin battle, and it seems like the conflict is far greater than the warrior whose perspective the story is being told from. Therefore, the protagonist is probably a human. That being said, some people suggest that this is World War Two, but I don't think that is a personal enough topic for dragonforce to write such a beautiful song about. So the deeper meaning of this song I think is about fighting against life. Many people struggle with problems in life, such as being low on money or simply being depressed. Maybe girls don't like them because they play too many video games. All jokes aside, the lyrics do suggest this. 'The sound of evil laughter falls around the world tonight' and 'the scattered souls will feel the hell that is wasted on the shores.' These lyrics and any others that imply darkness or hell striking the world down implies a state of mental depression, stress, or limitation. Now, the chorus lyrics seem to imply transcending your problems and limitations and beating the fight against life. 'And now we're flying, we're free' implies this enormously. 'And on the wings of a dream, so far beyond reality' goes on to suggest that you follow your dreams even if they seem to be 'beyond reality.' Now the bridge is an uplifting part. It says things like 'break the seal of this curse of I possibly can, for freedom of every man.' This says to help others transcend their problems, breaking the seal of the curse of limitations around others, freeing every man. Correct me if you think I'm wrong.

I like this interpretation, don't let anyone whine about it being religious because the author put 'Gods' not 'God' or 'Angels'. Multiple cultures have gods and demons, it's not about religion at all, it's about how they interpreted it and they decided to share it. Just a little food for thought

So many of the people on this site will try to cram religious bullshit into the meaning of any song, a couple slight references do not create a decent interpretation, now for what I think is the meaning.
This song if you tie together each part is about the hardships of life 'the fire and flames' and finding a way to get past them, I could go on but I have already made my point, if anyone wants to discuss this you can email stranger00070@outlook.com

After reading the lyrics posted earlier, I see many way to interpret this song. I prefer a more realistic approach. I also wanted to point out that whIle others hear 'For the light source so wasted and gone' I hear 'For the lives all so wasted in god.' As in this person is having second thoughts about their religion. After all, I did say I like the realistic approach about someone going through hard times.

a friend told me all their songs are supposed to be from a dragon's point of view, kind of ridiculous but it does put a wierd spin on the songs if you listen with that idea in mind.

I think it's about the Thousand Days' War, it does say 'A lifetime lost in a thousand days.'

Just my opinion here, but it seems to me that the whole religious context is overly analyzing it a bit. It's about the hardships of life-Through the fire and the flames, right? Pain and sorrow, humiliation and fear. Everyone faces them.
'We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days'-It is dragging on and on, with no foreseeable end in sight.
'Through the fire and the flames, we carry on'-Never, ever giving up.
Alternatively, it could be about firefighters, but I find that rather unlikely.

I really think this song, apart from the obvious fantasy undertones, really could be about the Battle of Normandy-apart from the reference to 'A cold winter morning', it all fits, especially that passage about 'lives wasted on the shore'-referencing all the dead at Omaha. The 'time before the light' refers to when the paratroopers took off I.e, in the night of the 5th-6th June. The 'Evil Laughter' is Hitler's,laughing about what he thinks will be a failed invasion. The fire and flames are MG fire and artillery. The passage about breaking the curse and freeing man are about liberating Europe. The passages about flying and being free could signify going to battle( The 'Thunderstorm') with a free conscience and no fear. The 'Blackest plains' could bw the sand beaches after being blasted with arty,or the fields and Bocages of Normandy.'Hell's domain' Is Nazi occupied Europe. The reflections about fighting hard could be a soldier reflecting on the slaughter after the landings,a hard battle such as Villers-Bocage or Caen, or even the end of Overlord after the fighting around the Falaise gap,and thinking about he and his enemy's motives.
    My two cents.

I have interpreted this as a fight against the government and the NWO.
This seems to be a recurring theme throughout Dragonforce songs and I think we should act using these lyrics as instructions and take down the government.

I've read a lot of interpretations and I'm surprised no one saw what I saw... It is not an epic battle in a fantasy world (well it is, but that's not the point.). It is about a dream. Or a nightmare. The singer is supposedly stuck in a dream. THis is suggested in the line that says 'we wait for the day' because that is when the 'curse' is broken. Also, he is 'lost within [his] own mind' where dreams are. Dreams are in the night, which is 'far away from sundown' and the dream world would be far away from reality (as stated) which therefore makes it far away from the real moonlight. It also directly says 'on the wings of a dream' This dream is one of those seemingly endless dreams (we all have had those, right?) due to the lines 'lifetime lost in a thousand days' and 'endlessly tonight' (tonight: nightime). Also the references to being free makes sense because dreaming frees you from reality. Also, he is 'all alone' although he uses the terms 'we'. In dreams, there are often other people, but they aren't real beings; just imaginations. So he is 'all alone in desparation' technically. There are also many other clues, but those are the main points.

Hey guys, I'm Kamal, and i know the real meaning of the song. Basically, it is the hardships of life and that you have to push on without looking back.
When this song was wrote, Dragonforce's, singer's, Girlfriend committed suicide and he was pissed. think about this the next time you here the song. and it makes more sense.

your actually all wrong...This song is about the Devil being cast out of heaven. its a song from the Devils and his demons point of view..ill give you a few examples
eg. 1:We're banished from a time in a fallen land to a life beyond the stars.'
-This references them being cast out of heaven by God;Heaven being the Fallen land they speak of
eg. 2: On a cold winter morning in a time before the light...
-this touches on how it was before god created earth as it is common knowledge to anyone that believes in the Bible that in the beginning god said let there be light, however the angels including the fallen angel lucifer or the devil were created even before god made what we perceive as light

This song, like most of Dragonforce's other songs have to do with the accumulation of the Devil's army of souls in preparation for the final battle. The souls in this song are damned and already know they are so they just cling to their pride and fight anyways, but their reward is freedom in a wasteland of hell where there is silence and loneliness. The forces are congregating in the fourth dimension achieved through detachment of our souls through death, or astral projection. To avoid finding yourself lost in the wasteland, one must seek spirituality by diminshing oneself and becoming meek and poor in spirit. Yes, in all of their songs, they are the warriors of the Dragon.. the force of Evil.. and seek to spread their message through these cryptic lyrics... so that when you die, you will be confused and decieved into joining the side of the Dragon who inhabits the astral realm.

On a warm summers morning, in a time after the dark
In sea of life eternal reign we ride towards the peace
When the lightness has fallen down and the times are tough all right
The sound of evil laughter falls around the world tonight

Fighting hard, fighting on for the steel, through the wastelands evermore
The scattered souls will feel the hell, bodies wasted on the shores
On the blackest plains in hell's domain we watch them as we go
In fire and pain and once again we know

So now we fly ever free
We're free before the thunderstorm
On towards the wilderness our quest carries on
Far beyond the sundown, far beyond the moonlight
Deep inside our hearts and all our souls
